A real skill.
An unreal amount of fun.

There’s more to it than a glowing blade. Our structured training draws on Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) principles, bringing together weapon forms, exercise and instructor-approved sparring.

You don’t need to arrive knowing the moves. That’s what you’re here to learn.

Start with the fundamentals.

Your first class introduces basic forms (Form I) and proper weapon handling. Build control before adding complexity.

Make the practice your own.

A seven-level progression gives you room to explore different forms or focus on mastering one. Come for the skill, the exercise, or both.

Train with people, not pressure.

Beginners and people of varying fitness levels are welcome. Instructors guide sparring readiness, and competition is not a requirement for being part of the community.

Regular classes are for ages 15+. Fall Clinic sessions have their own age groups.

Your next adventure.

A place for
your kind of people.

A little nerdy? Into learning something new? You’ll be in good company. Indy Lightsaber Academy brings people across Central Indiana together through movement, practice and a shared interest in saber training.

You can train for exercise and community without pursuing competition. The starting point is simple: a willingness to learn.

Michael Tucker helped develop the Academy’s systems and lightsaber forms. His founding work is part of the story behind the training. Read the historical background in Towne Post’s coverage.

A few things
you might be wondering.

A first step feels easier when you know what to expect.

Do I need any experience?

No. Complete beginners and people of varying fitness levels are welcome. Your first class introduces basic forms (Form I) and proper weapon handling.

What ages can take part?

Regular classes serve ages 15+. The October 3 Fall Clinic has its own eligibility: youth ages 8–12 and an adult session for ages 13+. These clinic ages do not change regular-class eligibility.

Do I have to spar?

Sparring at the Fall Clinic is optional. In regular training, instructors decide when a student is ready to spar, considering control, following instructions and consistent attendance. You can come for exercise and community without pursuing competition.

What should I bring to the Fall Clinic?

Wear athletic clothing and shoes, and bring water and snacks. Equipment is provided and foam lightsabers are used. Waivers are signed on the day. Final arrival and guardian instructions will be confirmed before registration launches.

When and where are regular classes?

Regular classes are on hiatus. Their new day, time and location remain unconfirmed. Crystal Creek Farm is the Fall Clinic venue; it is not a confirmed regular-class location.

Can instruction be adapted to my needs?

Speak with the staff about your physical needs or limitations before taking part. Once the inquiry channel is active, you can also contact the Academy in advance. Specific accommodations and venue accessibility need to be confirmed individually.
